YOGA PRACTICE
Initially yoga wasn’t my “thing”.
In fact, when clients and potential clients asked if I did yoga, my answer was a hard “no”. I was always more inclined to lifting and doing cardio. Yoga just didn’t seem like a “workout” to me. I naïvely equated the slower movements and slower breath to slower and less gain. Lifting and cardio are faster and more aggressive movements so I equated that to have a greater effect. Little did I know how the practice of yoga rewarded such incredible effects on my mood, spirit, body and mind by combining physical posture, breathing exercises and meditation.
Several years ago, I gave yoga an honest try by working one on one with a teacher. It wasn’t easy. In fact, I found it down right hard! And I realized there was so much more to it than I originally thought. Yoga is in fact, not a workout, and it’s called a practice for a reason. It’s a gradual practice that connects your body, mind, breath and spirit. I started practicing daily, and yes, my strength and flexibility increased, but equally important, I felt calmer and more connected to my feelings, my thoughts and my inner self. I now lead individual and small group practices with clients.
